About

A symbolic language with explicit limits.

Sigilize is a contemplative design system built around a thirteen-node field, a reciprocal alphabet, and a five-position grammar. It treats symbolic practice as a way to structure attention—not as evidence of a hidden causal mechanism.

Frame

Constraint does the cognitive work.

The system began as a way to give intention a finite visual grammar. Classical elemental language supplies memorable primitives; ratios, reciprocals, and a fixed field force choices that could otherwise remain vague. The resulting mark is useful because its construction can be traced back to an explicit sentence.

Pragmatic boundary. A working can be meaningful, memorable, emotionally resonant, and behaviorally useful without implying that drawing it caused unrelated external events.

Field

Thirteen nodes, twenty-six letters.

The field uses two large squares inside a circle plus a smaller square rotated forty-five degrees. Thirteen reusable nodes carry paired letters: A–M on the direct side and N–Z as reciprocals. The pairs are A↔Z, B↔Y, C↔X, D↔W, E↔V, F↔U, G↔T, H↔S, I↔R, J↔Q, K↔P, L↔O, and M↔N.

The center is M/N. Direct and reciprocal letters share a location but change how the mark is drawn.

Mathematics

The alphabet is generated, not assigned.

The four elemental primitives are normalized to a single unity relation. First-order ratios, balanced second-order combinations, and exact reciprocals generate the rest of the mathematical alphabet from that starting rule.

Grammar

Each working is a sentence.

  1. Force — the push.
  2. Destination — the intended state.
  3. Mode — the path.
  4. Quality — flavor, tempo, or governing constraint.
  5. Impact — scale, timing, or residue.

Force establishes the starting node. The remaining four positions become four transitions through the field. See the five positions as a learning sequence.

Rendering

The drawing rules remain mechanical.

  • A direct Force (A–M) receives a filled start marker; a reciprocal Force (N–Z) receives a hollow one.
  • There are four transitions after the start marker: Destination, Mode, Quality, and Impact.
  • A transition whose current letter is direct is straight. A reciprocal current letter is wavy.
  • If two consecutive letters occupy the same node, a direct transition is implicit; a reciprocal transition becomes a local squiggle.
  • The center is a starting point only when Force is M or N.

Evidence

Meaning and mechanism stay separate.

A finished glyph can help recover a larger intention, give that intention salience, create continuity across separate moments of reflection, and make it easier to examine from a little distance. Those are plausible uses of a symbolic object. They do not establish that the geometry is a natural law, that a private interpretation is objectively true, or that the glyph caused an external event.

Workings may concern other people or real-world outcomes. The useful question is what the working clarifies about your own attention, preparation, communication, boundaries, or choices. The system does not claim access to another person's thoughts and cannot establish that it controls their behavior.

Mental-health boundary

Keep the practice grounded and interruptible.

A symbolic practice is healthiest when it can be contradicted by ordinary evidence and put down without anxiety. Stop using Sigilize for a while if you find yourself compulsively redrawing or checking a working, losing sleep over whether it was performed correctly, becoming increasingly certain that unrelated events are messages about it, or feeling responsible for events you did not cause.

Return to ordinary routines, trusted people, written observations, and independent evidence rather than escalating the ritual. If the practice is intensifying distress or interfering with daily functioning, stop using it and consider discussing what is happening with a qualified mental-health professional.

Observation

Log what happened, not what the symbol “made happen.”

If you revisit a working over time, define two or three observable indicators before you begin. Record actions you took, relevant circumstances, confounds, and outcomes. At the end of the period, ask whether the working helped you remember, perceive, decide, or act differently. Keep, revise, or retire it on that basis.

Install & offline

Use Sigilize like a local application.

After a successful online visit, Sigilize caches its application shell and reference assets so the site can reopen without a network connection. Installing it adds the same local-first application to your device; it does not create an account or move your workings into server storage.

Your working data and the offline application cache are separate. Workings remain in browser storage on this device, while the service worker caches only Sigilize's static HTML, JavaScript, styles, symbol data, and diagrams.

Your browser can install Sigilize from its Install app or Add to Home Screen command.

On-device data

Your working data is stored locally, not by Sigilize.

Your intention text, Builder draft, saved workings, notes, observations, and reviews are written to browser storage on this device. Sigilize does not transmit that working data to its servers or cloud storage, and there is no account required to hold it.

A completed mark is stored as one working: its intention, notes, observations, review, and any revision relationship stay attached to the same local object. Observation is optional and does not create a second record. Local storage is private but not durable: clearing site data or losing the browser profile can remove it. Use Saved → Portability to export a readable JSON backup and restore it later. A restore preview shows what will be added or skipped before you confirm; import is merge-only and never silently deletes existing workings.

What “local” means. The site downloads its static HTML, JavaScript, symbol data, diagrams, and other application files from sigilize.site. Your working content remains in browser storage on this device and is not sent to Sigilize as application data.
